If you want to look for an alternative to the unchallenged domination in the segment of Nokia Windows Phone, this alternative has to be found in the products WP HTC . And ‘This is the picture that emerges from the data recently released by AdDuplex ( updated to May 5 ), that highlight the role that the Taiwanese company is continuing to play in the specific segment market.
The statistics of AdDuplex, updated to the month of May, show a percentage of usage of the Windows Phone manufactured by HTC equal to 13.7% (-0.3% compared to figures released in April) . One share undoubtedly very small when compared to 80 .2% owned by Nokia, but equally encouraging when compared with the meager 4.5% held by Samsung.
The second chart below shows the usage statistics of individual Windows Phone terminals on a global basis . The latest HTC 8X and HTC 8S get a result of respectively 4.8% and 4%. Figures modest if compared, for example, with those of the terminals Nokia Lumia 520 (4.4%), on the market a few months but already widely spread, and the Lumia 920, the top range introduced almost simultaneously to HTC 8X, but that is in the past few months at 13.1%.
data take on a different texture if you outsource the terminals based on Windows Phone 7.x and take into consideration only those based using the latest release of the operating system . In this case, the proportion of diffusion of the terminals HTC rises to 18% on a worldwide basis . Data at the same time, confirm that the strategy based on a single top range of Samsung has been largely unsuccessful (the Korean manufacturer has only 1 .6% share).
Among the markets that have demonstrated particularly appreciate the HTC Windows Phone 8 to include the States , an area in which the brand of the Taiwanese manufacturer is known and rooted for many years. Looking at the market, the share of HTC devices rises to 25.8% .
It ‘true that Nokia’s commitment in the development and marketing of Windows Phone 8 terminals is unsurpassed, but still we speak of a company that based its entire business strategy on Windows Phone products. HTC, on the contrary, has reaffirmed its intention to use a two-track strategy that will continue to support the products terminals Android Windows Phone. A similar choice to the one announced by Samsung, which, however, as evidenced by recent data, there seems to have reached the goal.
Recall that, recently, the CEO of HTC, Peter Chou, reaffirmed the commitment that will lead the company to make new investments on the Windows Phone platform.
